Job Summary:
The Karate Instructor will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality karate instruction to individuals or groups of students. They will create a positive and motivating learning environment that encourages skill development, discipline, and personal growth. The Karate Instructor will also ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and promote the values and principles of karate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement structured karate training programs tailored to the age, skill level, and goals of the students.
2. Teach various karate techniques, stances, forms, and movements to students, ensuring proper execution and alignment.
3. Demonstrate and explain karate principles, philosophies, and etiquette to foster discipline and respect among students.
4. Provide individualized feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their technique, physical fitness, and mental focus.
5. Organize and lead warm-up exercises, drills, and conditioning activities to enhance flexibility, strength, and endurance.
6. Ensure a safe training environment by enforcing safety guidelines and supervising students during training sessions.
7. Assess and evaluate student performance, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address weaknesses.
8. Plan and coordinate karate demonstrations, exhibitions, and competitions to showcase students' progress and achievements.
9. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievements of each student, and provide regular progress reports to parents or guardians.
10. Stay updated with current trends and advancements in karate training techniques and certifications to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
11. Collaborate with other coaching staff to develop and implement a comprehensive sports program that integrates karate with other athletic disciplines.
12. Assist in the recruitment and selection process of new students, evaluating their potential and ensuring a good fit with the program.
13. Communicate and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders, addressing any concerns or queries promptly.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Minimum of a black belt (Dan) in karate from a recognized martial arts organization.
2. Proven experience as a Karate Instructor, preferably in a professional or educational setting.
3. Strong knowledge of karate principles, techniques, and forms across different styles (e.g., Shotokan, Wado-Ryu, Goju-Ryu).
4. Excellent verbal communication and instructional skills, with the ability to effectively teach and motivate students of all ages and skill levels.
5. Demonstrated ability to create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
6. Exceptional physical fitness, agility, and coordination, with the ability to perform and demonstrate advanced karate techniques.
7. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
8. First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
9. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate training sessions and competitions.
